EBulletin for March 10, 2017
Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
At this, the Purim season: As we remember Amalek; as we remember Haman and obliterate his name; as we remember our heroes Mordechai and Esther; as we remember Hashem’s miracles – we must remember all throughout the year that we have enemies, heroes and Hashem’s miracles as each of us remains vigilant and engages in pro-Israel advocacy and activism, and participates in a variety of ways to help Israel. Purim takes place in what is modern-day Iran. Once again Iran/the Persians threaten genocide against the Jewish People — and once again we will prevail, but we have work to do.
Iran was the focus of our quarterly meeting this past week. We had a great turnout for a wonderful presentation by our guest speaker, Omri Ceren. We also had quite a question-and-answer session, with our members and guests asking important and thoughtful questions. See a report below on Ceren’s main points. We hope to have video of his talk available shortly.
Please read through the end of this newsletter, as there is important information, news of upcoming events, items from National ZOA and our Purim greeting to you.
Ask Your Senators to Confirm David Friedman
Each of us has two United States senators.
Please call both of them, and ask that they vote to confirm David Friedman as US Ambassador to Israel.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved him, but the full Senate must vote to confirm him.
Find phone numbers for your senators at the link below.
Please ask everyone you know to make their two calls as well!

ZOA’s Purim Mission
Several Greater Philadelphia ZOA members are in Israel now, participating in ZOA’s Annual Purim Mission.
They will be visiting a variety of military and police bases distributing thousands of misloach manot packages,
and hundreds of cards and letters made by Jewish students from our immediate area and beyond!
We wish them a successful and wonderful mission.
While ZOA’s Washington Advocacy Mission may seem like it is a long way off, we are already reserving seats on our buses for this important day of hands-on pro-Israel advocacy.
The Mission features special briefings, a glatt-kosher luncheon that includes remarks from dozens of lawmakers, meetings on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and their chief aides, plus greetings and inspiring words from our National President, Mort Klein. Plus it is an opportunity to meet and network with Zionists from throughout our region and all of America.
Don’t delay!
Call our Office at 610-660-9466.

EBulletin for February 24, 2017
Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
As you know, there are abundant and incessant efforts to undermine, delegitimize and ultimately (G-d forbid) destroy Israel. This is not a reference to missiles fired at Israelis, or other violent acts, but rather indoctrination and propaganda and other similar efforts to win people over to the anti-Israel cause. There was such an event last night at a local college campus, and yesterday at another local college campus, a notorious anti-Israel speaker was featured at a prominent lecture (He reportedly did not discuss Israel during his talk on “Islamophobia”). Greater Philadelphia ZOA, which tries as much as possible to find out in advance about such events, found out about these two particular events via tips from our members and friends. Thus, we were able to have people attending and monitoring them. We are grateful for their help.
We need your help to try to keep pace with Israel’s adversaries. If you learn about anti-Israel or potentially anti-Israel events in our region, please let us know about them, as far in advance as you can. Even if you think to yourself “ZOA must know about this,” as good as we are, we cannot know everything. We also need people who can attend these events, take notes and potentially ask questions to correct and/or challenge the speakers.
Please let us know by email or phone of any such events you find out about, and if you have time to attend any such Israel events, please let us know. Thank you.

Ebulletin for February 17, 2017
Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
It seems that Jew-hatred never fully goes away – it just goes out of style from time-to-time.
Well, it’s back in style in the Philadelphia area, as allegations of a Jewish cabal or Jewish pressure have been invoked following the cancellation of an anti-Israel speaker who was invited to give a talk at an area Friends school. This familiar anti-Jewish trope has even made it onto the pages of local media in both op-eds and editorials of legitimate local newspapers – to say nothing for the sickening anti-Jewish comments in response on the papers’ online editions.
Greater Philadelphia ZOA has weighed in on the issue.
Jews and our non-Jewish friends and allies should not have to suffer in silence in the face of efforts to turn young Americans against Israel – particularly when the speaker in-question is a fervent BDS supporter, and the BDS movement is one based on lies, hatred of Jews and Arab- and Muslim-supremacism. Some are additionally accusing Jews of opposing free speech – though nothing could be further from the truth. Impressionable young people deserve not only free speech but also to receive a full and accurate understanding of events and history, international law and the agendas of those who would seek to mislead them.
We who support the truth and the Jewish state of Israel must continually speak out in defense of both of these causes, and whoever it was who was responsible for getting this event stopped should be commended not condemned. ZOA is at the forefront of this struggle to educate and advocate for Israel. We speak up no matter how long the odds are or how strong are our opponents.
See Greater Philadelphia ZOA’s letter on the matter of the Friends school as published in The Philadelphia Inquirer below.
Please note: There are many important and noteworthy items in our newsletter this week. Please read all the way through. Thank you.

EBulletin for February 3, 2017
Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,
Greater Philadelphia ZOA has many exciting events and activities coming up in the near and distant future, and while we are not ready just yet to reveal all of the details, you can look forward to the following:
- We will soon be announcing the honorees for our 2017 Gala, and it is going to be another great line-up. Make sure you save Sept. 12 on your calendar;
- Next week we will announce the date for our Washington Advocacy Mission. It is a new administration, a new Congress and new legislative priorities. It will be a wonderful time to be on Capitol Hill with ZOA where we will hear from many lawmakers and then lobby our House and Senate members;
- We will be having a quarterly meeting in March with a timely speaker addressing one of the most important issues in the Middle East;
- We will work to tangibly counter BDS with our “Buy Israel” Israel Foods, Crafts and Judaica Festival;
- We are planning a new Speakers Series featuring talks by well-known personalities you will not want to miss – plus special receptions for board members;
- Plus there will be special events to mark ZOA’s 120th anniversary, the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem and the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.
We not only invite you to attend and participate in each of these events, but we also encourage you to take part in the planning and implementation to help make them an even greater success! For information about how you can get involved, please call our Office at 610-660-9466.

ZOA and PJTN Action Alert:
Please Call Your Senator To Support Trump’s Pro-Israel Nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, and Moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem
Dear Friends of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) and Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN):
Please call your U.S. Senator today (or as soon as you can) at 202 224-3121 and urge him or her: (1) to confirm President-elect Trump’s pro-Israel nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, and (2) to support moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem!
Please also share this with your friends and ask them to call!
We need a strong pro-Israel U.S. Ambassador to Israel to repair the damage done to U.S.-Israel relations in recent years.David Friedman is the right choice!
Your calls are very important! Anti-Israel groups are mounting major telephone campaigns to stop President-elect Trump’s nominee David Friedman from being confirmed by the Senate!
We need a strong pro-Israel U.S. Ambassador to Israel to repair the damage done to U.S.-Israel relations in recent years. David Friedman is the right choice! Mr. Friedman is one of America’s leading attorneys, speaks fluent Hebrew, has made a life-long extensive study of Middle East issues, and shares the pro-Israel views of the American public. Mr. Friedman understands the tragic Arab/radical Islamic war against Israel, Israel’s defense needs, the dangers Israel faces and how Israel is on the front lines of our joint efforts to stop radical Islamist terrorism. He appreciates the political, historic, legal, and religious rights of the Jewish people to Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem – and Israel’s record of protecting religious freedom and the rights to people of every faith to access their holy sites, which is unique in the Middle East. Mr. Friedman will restore and strengthen the vital U.S.-Israel alliance, benefitting all of us, and the cause of real peace. Please tell your Senator to vote to confirm President-elect Trump’s nominee, David Friedman as U.S. Ambassador to Israel!
Please also ask your Senator to support moving the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s 3,000-year-old capital, Jerusalem! Jerusalem is the eternal and indivisible capital of Israel. Israel’s Knesset and government offices are in Jerusalem. The U.S. Embassy is in the capital of every other nation with which we have diplomatic ties – except our dear ally Israel. That’s discrimination! Jerusalem is mentioned 700 times in the Torah/Bible. (Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Koran.) It’s time to move the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s capital!
Thank you for taking the time to call your Senator and for all your help and dedication!
