EBulletin for May 13, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

Yom Ha’atzmaut was yesterday, marking the 68th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Jewish State of Israel, and the festivities continue Sunday with the Bucks County Jewish Festival, being staged by the Bucks advocacy 20County Jewish Coalition. The festival will take place from 10 am to 2 p.m. at Briarwood Day Camp, 1380 Creek Rd., in Furlong.

One of the highlights of the Festival will be a Philadelphia ZOA Israel Advocacy Workshop.

We are grateful to the Bucks County Jewish Coalition for the opportunity to help educate and activate the pro-Israel community in Bucks County. The workshop will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the indoor soccer area. Please come to enjoy the festival, and learn how you can help Israel and hone your Israel advocacy skills.

See the flyer below for all details.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out at our table, which we will have for the duration of the festival. If you can help out for part of the event, please call our Office at 610-660-9466.

There will be an additional Philadelphia ZOA Israel Advocacy Workshop on Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m., in Northeast Philadelphia. See location and other details in a separate flyer below.

Please let your friends, neighbors and contacts know about these two educational and advocational events.

Last Wednesday, about 60 of you from our area travelled to Washington to participate in ZOA’s Annual National Washington Advocacy Mission, joining with Zionists from throughout America who converged on the nation’s capital. It was a long day; a day that involved prep work and homework on the part of everyone who attended. But based on the feedback we have received, it was a meaningful, enjoyable and inspiring day. We are grateful to all of you and particularly those of you who chaired our congressional meetings. Our local delegates had meetings in six Senate offices and 10 House offices where we pressed for specific legislation to stop Iran and we explained issues related to stopping aid to the Palestinian Authority and preventing a UN Security Council resolution that would threaten Israel and reward terrorism.

We are especially grateful to those of you who brought your children or grandchildren to Washington for the day. You are role models for instilling in them at an early age not only a love for Israel but the necessity to be engaged in advocacy and activism.

For those of you who were unable to join us for the Washington Mission this year: We need your help to get the legislation across the finish line and to help press action by Congress on important issues. We will email an action alert next week detailing steps you can take to advance what was a great Washington Advocacy Mission into a successful Washington Advocacy Mission.

Bring ZOA’s Message and Knowledge To Your Friends and Neighbors

Host an Advocacy Workshop, ZOA Speaker or Parlor Meeting

If you are like most people, you have friends, neighbors and even relatives who do not quite understand what is taking place in one of the most pivotal regions in the world.

The Middle East is home to key U.S. allies and enemies; it is the focal point of much of the media; it is the source of most of the terrorism that plagues the world; it is where a large amount of American foreign aid is targeted and the source of much of the world’s oil. It is where our beloved Israel is trying to exist and thrive.

But the Middle East has become a muddled area to most Americans because of incomplete or biased coverage, plus a campaign of mis-education in schools and universities.

One of ZOA’s missions is to clarify the issues and to help Americans understand what is taking place in the Middle East and how it impacts them.

Help us fulfill this vital mission by hosting a parlor meeting in your home. A small gathering can make a huge difference.
