EBulletin for November 23, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

If you have ever been around someone whose passion for a cause is both palpable and contagious, you have a sense of what it is like to be in the audience when Sgt. Benjamin Anthony is discussing Israel.

Not only is it important for we in “the choir” to hear Sgt. Anthony’s presentation, but more importantly, it is urgent that those who may not feel as strongly about Israel as you do, or who are not exposed to the facts about Israel as you are attend his talk on Dec. 8. That’s why we are encouraging you to spread the word as widely as possible about Greater Philadelphia ZOA’s upcoming special event “An Evening With Sgt. Benjamin Anthony,” which we are presenting in conjunction with Temple Beth-Hillel-Beth El’s Israel Advocacy Committee.

Sponsors will enable us to invite area students to attend the event for free. Each sponsorship is just $200 and includes four tickets for you and your guests. As a sponsor, we will publicly thank you at the event for your generosity.

Individual tickets are just $10 each.

Please let your friends, colleagues, fellow congregants, neighbors, email contacts and social media contacts know about this event by forwarding this email as well as the flyer below.

Purchase sponsorships and individual tickets direct via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-with-sgt-benjamin-anthony-tickets-29117370840

Or you can send a check to: ZOA, P.O. Box 56, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.

Please see the flyer below for event location and Sgt. Anthony’s topic.

For more information, call the Greater Philadelphia ZOA Office at 610-660-9466.

EBulletin for November 10, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

Next month – on December 8 – Greater Philadelphia ZOA is bringing in one of the most powerful and important speakers that we have ever presented: Sgt. Benjamin Anthony of the group Our Soldiers Speak. It’s a return engagement for Sgt. Anthony. We brought him in a two years ago for a program we co-sponsored with the Institute for Jewish Ethics on “The Ethics of Supporting Israel” and he was captivating. Sgt. Anthony unabashedly speaks about Jewish rights, pride in Israel, justice, and priorities. In the politically correct world that seems to dominate the scene, his voice and his message are refreshing and empowering as well as enlightening.

While everyone who loves Israel should come out to hear him at our event at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El, it is particularly important for Jewish students and young professionals to have an opportunity to learn from Sgt. Anthony.

Please see the graphic below with all of the details. Please let others know about this event by emailing it to your contacts, printing it out and distributing and posting on social media.

We are also looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor this event to help defray our costs.

You can sponsor “An Evening With Sgt. Benjamin Anthony” and/or purchase tickets to this event either by check or electronically. Checks should be sent to:
Greater Philadelphia ZOA, P.O. Box 56, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
Purchase on Eventbrite at:

EBulletin for November 4, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

There is no doubt that those of you who attended our quarterly meeting last night are still kvelling and feeling uplifted from what you witnessed, and came away even more impressed with Israel, feel even better about supporting her and are glad about your membership in or connection with ZOA. See the photo collage from the meeting below. While last night’s meeting had a different sort of theme than most of our quarterly meetings, it is emblematic of the powerful, diverse programs that we present at all of our events and a reminder that all of us can be positive and pro-active in support of Israel and promote Israel and Israelis in addition to defending them.

Much thanks to volunteers who made last night possible: Linda Rosen, Ed Rosen, Beverly Sher, Miriam and Sheldon Einhorn, Marsha Flager, Svetlana Hamberg, and Ed Snyder.

Thanks also to our presenters: Mark Cohen of Israel Ideas, John Feely of MossRehab, Motti Attia or Orcam and ReWalk user Dan Webb. A big thanks to Beth Sholom Congregation for hosting the meeting and to their staff for helping us.

EBulletin for October 28, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

We are very much looking forward to our three upcoming events: our quarterly meeting, the Brandeis Dinner and our special “An Evening With Sgt. Benjamin Anthony” — and we strongly encourage you to get to all three of these. Each event will be powerful, upbeat and inspiring.
Our quarterly meeting will accentuate the positive about Israel and really reveal Israel’s untold story: The medical, scientific and technological breakthroughs developed by Israelis that benefit all of humanity. The event featuring Mark Cohen of Israel Ideas takes place on November 3 at Beth Sholom Congregation. See the graphic below. The event is free and open to the public.
On November 20 in Manhattan, more than 1,000 Zionists will gather to celebrate Israel and Zionism at National ZOA’s Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award Dinner. There will be yet another lineup of deserving honorees and uplifting and informative speakers, including Philadelphia’s own Gary Erlbaum — plus ZOA’s famous glatt-kosher reception. Join the many local ZOA members and friends who have already purchased tickets to this great evening. There is a generous discount for current ZOA members from the Greater Philadelphia ZOA area, plus an extremely deep discount for young professionals. See all the details in the graphics below.
We are truly thrilled to be able to again present an event with Sgt. Benjamin Anthony of Our Soldiers Speak. He is one of the most compelling and passionate pro-Israel speakers in the world today. He will be speaking on December 8 at Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El. See the details in the graphic below.
There are sponsorship opportunities for “An Evening With Sgt. Benjamin Anthony.” It is a great way to help Greater Philadelphia ZOA, and if you have a business or are a service-provider, a great opportunity to promote your business.

EBulletin for October 21, 2016

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

Chag Sameach!

The BDS Movement is truly a menace, and there are many ways to counter and combat it. Greater Philadelphia ZOA is planning a “Buy Israel” Israel Food, Crafts and Judaica Festival to pro-actively and permanently battle the “boycott” component of BDS in a positive way. We want this event to be both comprehensive and successful, and the time and effort needed to meet those goals is too great to accomplish by December 6. Therefore we are postponing this event until the spring. But that does not mean that you need to wait until then to buy goods from Israel. There are many opportunities to do so, whether in local supermarkets, via the Internet or during your trips to Israel. Goods from Israel can include necessities for your cupboards, or gifts or Judaica. Meanwhile, we are excited about this festival and we will let you know the new date as soon as it is rescheduled.

  • On November 3, please join us for an exploration of the wonders that Israel produces and shares with the world, at Greater Philadelphia ZOA’s quarterly meeting on November 3, featuring a presentation from Mark Cohen of Israel Ideas.
  • We are privileged to present “An Evening With Sgt. Benjamin Anthony” on Dec. 8, featuring one of the most impactful and compelling speakers around. Come out to hear Sgt. Anthony’s passionate and crystal-clear message. Bring your friends and particularly students.
  • In between these two local events is one of the most pleasurable and spectacular Zionist events of the year: The National ZOA Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award Dinner on November 20 in Manhattan.

Details on all of these events are below.

A Message From Co-President Lee Bender:

“Friends:

As many of you know, I have been battling lung cancer for over three years. Overall, I am still doing pretty well, all things considered, and there are several new promising treatments that are or will be approved soon and of which I am on. But there is a long way to go.  I will be participating in the Free To Breathe Philadelphia Walk/Run on Sunday, November 6.  Last year, my first, we had 20 join us in the walk/run and raised over $5,000.  I am truly grateful.

I am again asking you to join my team, Lee’s Lasers, either via a donation and/or participation.

Any support will be greatly appreciated.  See the link below:”
