Help Us Lobby Congress for Pro-Israel Legislation

Shalom ZOA Members, Friends and Supporters of Israel,

As many of you know, Tuesday, June 6, was our Washington Advocacy Mission. We lobbied for four bills in the Senate, and six resolutions in the House. Nearly 70 people from our region participated in the Mission and they were among 200 participants from 19 states who convened in Washington for a day of hands-on pro-Israel advocacy in the halls of Congress.

Before we lobbied, we attended a festive, three-hour luncheon that featured talks by Dr. Sebastian Gorka from the Trump Administration; Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Tom Cotton and Sen. Sherrod Brown; a number of House members including Freedom Caucus chair Rep. Mark Meadows, and Rep. Louie Gohmert; Christian Zionist leader Gary Bauer; national security expert Frank Gaffney; journalist Molly Hemingway; and others.

For those of you who were not able to participate in the ZOA Washington Advocacy Mission this year, you can still play an important role in helping these important legislative items become laws by lobbying for them with your phone, fax machine or email.

Please contact your lawmakers (both senators and your House member) and ask that Senator _____________ and Representative _________________ co-sponsor the appropriate legislation. Also, please contact everyone you know throughout the nation and ask them to do likewise.

Below are the bill/resolution numbers, the names of the legislation, links to the text of each piece of legislation and for local lawmakers a scorecard of who is already a co-sponsor. There are also links to the Senate and House directories so that you can get the contact information for each lawmaker.

Each of these legislative items with strengthen and benefit both America and Israel.  They were selected as priority items by ZOA National President Mort Klein.

Yesterday was quite an amazing day for everyone who participated in the Mission. Following briefings from our two lobbyists and a welcome from Mort Klein, we heard talks from Dr. Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant national security advisor to President Trump; a number of senators including Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton and Sherrod Brown; quite a few House members including Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows; leading Christian Zionist Gary Bauer, national security expert Frank Gaffney; and journalist Molly Hemingway.

After this festive luncheon, we fanned out across both the Senate and House office buildings to lobby members of both bodies in their offices. It was an upbeat, positive and productive day.

You can help get our legislative priorities “across the finish line” by contacting your lawmakers and asking others to do likewise. Thank you in advance for your help!
